Car locks that stick, jam, or just quit

A door lock that fights the key, an ignition that won’t turn, a key that snapped off inside the cylinder — these are mechanical problems with mechanical fixes, and we make them where your car is parked. One licensed technician (Texas Locksmith License B19775), domestic and import vehicles, and the price quoted before any work begins.

Repairs we make on-site

Door lock cylinders. Years of grit and wear leave a cylinder loose, gritty, or seized. We rebuild or replace it — and where the hardware allows, we re-pin the new cylinder to match your existing key, so one key still runs the whole car.

Ignition cylinders. When the key goes in but won’t turn, or turns and nothing happens, the fix is usually the ignition cylinder — not a dealership visit. We replace or rebuild ignitions at your location, which means no tow and no dealer labor markup.

Broken key extraction. A snapped key isn’t a lost cause. We extract the broken half without damaging the cylinder, then cut a fresh key on the spot. If you need a full replacement key or fob afterward, our car locksmith service handles cutting and programming at the same visit.

Trunk and tailgate locks. Same treatment — diagnose, quote, repair where the vehicle sits.

And if your problem is simpler — you’re standing outside a locked car right now — go straight to lockout service.

Is it the lock or the key?
A worn key behaves exactly like a failing lock — the cuts round off until pins stop lifting. Mention how old your key is when you call. If a fresh-cut key solves it, that’s what we quote. Not a new cylinder you didn’t need.

Mobile car lock repair, wherever the car sits

Driveway, office parking lot, apartment garage — the van comes to the vehicle anywhere in San Antonio and the surrounding suburbs during business hours. Check your spot on the service areas page, and mention 10% off Military · Senior · Students · Teachers when you call.

My key won’t turn in the ignition — what’s wrong?
Three usual suspects: a worn key, a worn ignition cylinder, or the steering-wheel lock binding. Try turning the wheel slightly while turning the key first. If that fails, we diagnose which part is at fault on-site and quote the fix before touching it.
Can you fix a car door lock without replacing it?
Often, yes. Many “broken” door locks are dirty, dry, or have one worn component. We rebuild what can be rebuilt and only quote a replacement cylinder when the hardware is genuinely done.
A key broke off in my lock — can you get it out?
Yes. Broken-key extraction is routine work with the right tools. We pull the fragment, check the cylinder for damage, and cut you a new key on the spot.
Do I need the dealership for ignition work?
Rarely. A licensed automotive locksmith replaces ignition cylinders and matching keys at your location for most makes and models — without the tow the dealership route requires. Tell us your year, make, and model and we’ll confirm before heading out.
